Set in a country that is being occupied by vicious creatures called Fangs, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness follows the Igiby children, Janner, Tink, and Leeli as they suddenly find themselves facing the unwanted attention of local Fangs. As always with children’s fiction, I take into account that I am in no way the target audience for the book but I actually found that once I was a few chapters into On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, I was so engaged with the narrative that it didn’t matter that I wasn’t the target audience. I was looking forward to starting this series not only because I knew that a children’s fantasy series was likely to be some easier reading in a hard year, but also because I had listened to some of Peterson’s music previously and enjoyed it. The Wingfeather Saga was one of two series of books that was recommended to me as part of my birthday recommendations. On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson
